"Inside, the tent was dark and smelled of mildew. A bench heaped wit clothing stood in the middle of the packed dirt floor along with a table, two chairs, and some milk crates stuffed with wads of material. Treggiari, Ashes, Ashes 100.
In the story a girl, who is sixteen, is escorted into a tent were she has to get tested if she has the disease that killed almost all of the world's population. The girl, who's name is Lucy, does not have the disease but the camp has to test everybody just to make sure that they don't infect everybody else.
The description of the tent reminds me of when I go camping because everything smells earthy just like the tent in the book. It also reminds me of camping because everything is crowded when my family goes camping our trailer is always crowded with cloths and other materials.
As a text to text connection, this part of the book reminds me of "Holes" because I always imagined their cabin being crowded with dirty cloths and smelled like dirt.
